I came to the Animal Emergency Center of Sandy Springs tonight for an emergency with my dog. I am definitely impressed with the level of care we received.

This emergency vet is located in the heart of Sandy Springs. There is ample parking and easy to get to.

Upon arrival, we were greeted immediately by the receptionist. She was very friendly and got us checked in quickly.

The exam room we were in was very clean, which was great. The service we received in the exam room was also really nice! Everyone here is friendly and understanding. All my questions were answered and I left with a good understanding of everything that was discussed.

10/5 stars. They are extremely helpful and reasonable.

Our dog ripped his carpal pad and it was hanging. Not enough to get cut off but enough to get 10 stitches. We had initially taken him to an emergency vet by our house in Brookhaven and they wanted to charge $2700. Told them to kick rocks but still left with a $425 visit.

We ended up taking him to animal emergency center and they took him within an hour, stitched it up and we were on our way for only $567. HUGGGEEE DIFFERENCE

Our dog reopened the wound and we took him back. Did not charge us and gave him 3 staples so it didn't happen again.

All we can say is thank you!

      Compassionate, attentive and supportive
We took our beloved 18-year old cat (who we considered our child) to Animal Emergency Center at 3:00am on Friday as he was in distress during the end stage of kidney failure/disease. We had wanted to have an in-home vet administer euthanasia, but could not wait until businesses opened in the morning as he was very uncomfortable and suffering.

We called to confirm they could accommodate us. We found the vet and staff very compassionate during a very emotional time. Having never had to put a pet down, they thoroughly explained the process, and gave us time to be with our cat prior to administering the sedative and opioids, and ample time to be with our cat after death to grieve and remember all the love he gave us.

While not our regular vet, I would definitely consider Animal Emergency Vet of Sandy Springs to be our future long-term veterinarian.

      Our beloved Luna. R.I.P.

When you're dealing with an animal emergency, you'll take 'any port in a storm', and this place is an excellent port. They could not have been nicer, more prompt, and just all around good people. Thanksgiving evening, my son's dog got a fishing lure stuck in his side, when it got lodged into his walking vest, and penetrated his skin. Long story. But, Animal Emergency Center took him right in and sedated him, got the lure out, and had us back home in about an hour. Unbelievable. Top shelf crew and fantastic attitude. I hope we never have to come back, but this place is great. Thanks guys!!!!!

This is one happy dog after he was fixed up by AEC of Sandy Springs!!

My 6yr old Wheaten was coughing and throwing up, a lot. Came here on a Sunday morning and very pleased with the attention and service - Jordan at front desk, Dexter the tech, and Virginia, the doc. They provided explanations, options, recommended course of action and details on what to do. Very caring. Totally recommend.

Just like others, my vet recommended we go here. My 8 week old kitten obtained a high fever of 105 and my vet suggested to take her to this Animal Emergency Center.

Before coming here, my kitten was hooked on liquid iv's, given antibiotics and anti-flammatory medicine at our vet. I decided to keep her at my vet for the rest of the day. (2PM- 6PM). 5:45PM arrives and I was told that her fever was not going down, so my vet kept stressing to keep her overnight at this hospital. My vet closes at 6PM.

She was not eating, heavily dehydrated and lethargic. My vet says that her organs could shut down any minute, so I was heavily stressed. Of course I am going to go immediately to the animal hospital. Our vet informed us that this hospital knew we were coming, so we drive over here and admit my kitten in.

They did the same exact thing the vet did. Hooked her up to liquid IV's and fed her. Oh and guess what? Her fever was going down. Now, I did not know at the time that this was due to the antibiotics our vet gave her (I do now) and maybe it did not kick in until we got to the hospital. I am just going to say that this was not the Hospital's fault.

However, when I was talked to over the phone by a male doctor he kept pushing to keep my kitten over night at the hospital AFTER he started the conversation of my kitten being fine. If my kitten is doing okay and you TELL me, why respond with "It is your pet, you can do whatever you want with it," with attitude?

I then followed-up with a question asking if I were to take her home and monitor her and if her fever spikes up again if can I re-admit her. The doctor says that I can, but that it would "be a pain in the ass to re-insert the catheter." Unprofessional and rude. I then told him that I am just going to bring my kitten home and he goes okay and hangs up without me saying goodbye. Attitude was not it. Do not be a vet if you're going to come off as agitated to your patient's owner's.

This is the first time owning a kitten and I understand it is hard to diagnose their sickness. To this day my vet does not even know what was wrong with my kitten, but she is healthy and doing okay.

However, they were nice when I was checking out and they got $117.00 (for liquid IV's and a can of GI Cat Food) for a 30 minute visit! (:

My vet recommended we go here. My cat "may" have been exposed to a flower that can be dangerous. The vet I spoke with was lovely. She gave me two options.

One was the cheaper route- give him some sub-q fluids, bloodwork, take him home and then to his vet in the morning when they closed.

The second was the more expensive, if you can afford it, best option out of abundance of precaution to best prevent potential kidney damage. My cat is my kid, I'll remortgage my house as long as he's ok, so I opted for the latter.

I expressed concerned for his well being because he's such a people animal, he cries and howls when he's left alone. She reassured me her staff would pick him up and give him attention through out the night, as time allowed. She noted how much he liked to he held, so I assumed they had already figured out his people friendly personality and relaxed.

A short while later, I got a call asking if they could sedate him. I assumed this was because he was upset he was being left alone for a minute or stuck in a small cage, thought a little sedation would help him settle down. So I agreed.

When I came to pick him up, I was told the night was uneventful, for which I am grateful. But when they handed me my cat, I almost vomited. He reeked of urine and feces, I was in shock. As I was examining him, I found 2 pieces of poop embedded in his fur, I got to wrestle them out bare handed. And he was wild eyed and startled, not my chill "I love strangers" cat.

My cat grooms himself non-stop, i bathe, brush and groom him - hell, I wipe his butt from time to time, just because! He normally smells like baby powder!

What happened to him in 10 hours? Was he knocked out sitting in his our feces? Was this from another animal? Did they just not look at him all night?

I'm pretty sure nobody picked him up or examined him, or else they would have poop on them like I did. I doubt he received the care and attention I was reassured he would the night before. Maybe they got busy but that's no reason to leave my cat unattended with poop in his fur. And certainly not for the amount I paid, I could have hired my own vet tech to watch him breath for less.

It took me 45 minutes to calm him down enough to let me pet him. This cat normally rolls over on his back and begs for more. Today he darted away from me and hid behind stuff in my car.

It took me an hour to stop crying, trying to convince myself he wasn't traumatized and second guessing myself for leaving him there.

Was it an emergency, no. It was after hours worried cat mom care. Would I take him there again, even in an emergency? No.

My 10 week old puppy ingested something and was in distress. We originally went to blue pearl ER but after 30 mins of waiting we hadn't even been seen and they knew she was in distress. I found Animal ER center by looking up close ER vets. Called and talked to them about what was going on and they said bring her over. Not only did they take her right in, they were waiting outside for us. We couldn't go in but they called us within 5 mins to tell us what was happening. They kept her for about 8 hours before we could pick her up. They even text us to give an update.

Our 16yo cats health had been declining for a week. A trip to our vet showed good blood work and no real reason for the decline. We went to Animal Emergency Center when we came home one night 5 days later to find her very weak. We thought we were about to say good-bye. X-rays showed no reason for the decline. They gave her fluids and an appetite stimulant and she is looking better already, just 12 hours later. Although the wait was long (when they say 1.5-2 hours to wait, they mean it) we would go back again. The care was very good and the staff was compassionate. Best emergency vet experience we have ever had.
