Anyone who has known me for over ten years would be able to regale stories of my teenage obsession with corsets, the fact that I would wear one at any opportunity and that I owned a particularly heinous patent PVC number that I used to team with pink PVC snakeskin short shorts because I thought it made me look grown up. The bouncers probably only let me in because they were scared I might chafe myself to death on the lonely walk home.
I don't want my bad taste to tar corsetry for other, responsible wearers of corsets though. They are beautiful, ingenious things and I believe every woman (over fourteens at least ) deserves one. If you are in the market for such luxury, Lulu and lush is definitely the place to go. They fit, customise if required, stock several brands and have some of the most eye wateringly sexy lingerie I have seen since my first Wonderbra.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Corinna H.Londres, Reino Unido9127432830 dic 2008
This is the most relaxed and comfortable sexy lingerie shop I've ever come across. It's nice, airy and understated. It gives you the feeling that buying something from here is no biggie, it's what every woman deserves.
They specialise in beautiful, boned corsets, ranging from those with a real wow factor to more demure (well, slightly) ones. You can really go for the buxom burlesque babe look with a little number from here. There's also a lingerie and corsetry customizing service, so if you want something extra special you can really go wild. The great thing is that they are suitable for all shapes and sizes as that's what corsets are for, sucking you in and pushing you out... in all the right places!
I love the ruffled silk knickers for a bit of frivolity. As soon as you put them on you just want to shake it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Lizzie S.Londres, Reino Unido17911006125915 feb 2010
Keks, knick-knicks, pants, undies, thongs, pantaloons, whatever you call them, Lulu and Lush happens to be the coolest place to by them. Now I'm not talking M&S here, these are sexy, satin, give-you-a-waspie-waist-in, undies that you're mum definitely won't be wearing. Or at least you hope not.
The wonderful thing about this shop is that it takes fabulous vintage designs and styles and makes them with modern technology and fabrics. You'll find kinky frilly knickers mixed in between fully boned girdles and sparkly nipple tassels. And all of them are machine washable! Well almost all of them. Corinna is so right about the layout, it's nice a spacey with loads of racks so you can actually see everything on sale rather than rummaging through. They also have very helpful and chatty staff. Basically this place is awesome.
The only thing that frustrates me is that I am a big boobied lady, and some of these designs just don't cut the mustard for practical day wear, yes for sexy fun time but no really what you'd go to Tescos wearing. Also, they are a little on the pricey side, I mean if the world can't see it why spend your months wages on it?Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Larissa R.Londres, Reino Unido2397273106 mar 2009
I received a generally frosty reception when I arrived. Perhaps I wasn't gothed-up enough for the sales people's tastes. After browsing around for quite some time without receiving a greeting, I asked someone for help in determining corset size. After I picked out some options (on my own), I asked to try them on, at which point, the sales people became moderately more friendly. One discussed and showed me how to put on the corset myself, and another actually helped me to try them on. I ended up making a purchase, and the cashier gave me a sales flyer that listed the item number in the event that I wanted to order the same corset online in another colour.
The store has a website under a different name:
http://www.fairygothmother.co.uk/
Some of the retro-looking lingerie looked a bit chintzy, although the high price definitely didn't reflect this. The corsets were quite costly, even those on the sales racks, but they're definitely of high quality and therefore justify the price.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Josy A.Vancouver, Canadá34181024733 sept 2013
Despite the name, FairyGothMother is not just for goths!
I wandered in and fell in love with several of the beautiful 50s-style dresses. I am not even a little goth-ish, and although the staff are all waaay more edgy than me (with their awesome tattoos, corsets and funky hair) they don't seem to mind us girly-girly folks trying everything on!
Bride-y stuff:
Downstairs there is a lair that includes sexy underwear and wedding dresses(!) Some of the dresses are fairy-like and poof-y, but some they also have lots of alternative, 50s-style, shorter dresses. The staff were really welcoming, and I spent plenty of time in my knickers while the lovely shop assistants helped me into amazing dresses. They lent me some ridiculously high heels so I could topple around looking in the mirrors while my sister, mum and bridesmaid told me what they thought.
The prices are reasonable(ish), well, at least compared to some other bridal shops in London. BUT I still think it is mad that the wedding dresses cost 30 times more than their normal dresses. The dresses upstairs were £25-£100, while the wedding dresses are more like £900- £1200. Am I suddenly meant to become wealthy when I get married?Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Monica R.Reino Unido2530633129 dic 2008
This shop is kinky heaven. They specialize in corsets and offer a vast array of brands, as well as their own. If you want to get a costume made corset they are your option. The atmosphere o the store is laid back and relaxed, so no matter your size, height or gender you will feel comfortable to share with a stranger your bust-waits-hip size. They also sell fashion with burlesque style, a little Ditta Von Tess cant harm in any girls closet. They also have prom dresses for those who want a piece of that famous "Grease Lightning"

FairyGothMother is probably the ultimate place to buy Goth clothing.
They have the Sexy, the Flamboyant, Burlesque, Fetish, prom gowns etc and specialise in Corsets. Jewellery and accessories are also available.
If you want to look stunning or stand out at a Whitby Goth weekend or club then this is the place to buy clothes.
You do have to have the figure though. They don't do a lot for the larger sizes.
More importantly you have to have the money! This stuff isn't cheap but it would make a Goth girly drool.
To make up a basic outfit a corset is around £130. Add a skirt £80. A beautiful jacket £295. A hat £85 and a necklace £95.
So for a decent outfit you won't get much change from £700.
A great place to buy a Goth wedding outfit though.
They have another shop in Spitalfields.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Usuario Qype (Badger…)Edimburgo, Reino Unido161714414 nov 2008
With the closure of its Camden store, the Spitalfields Mkt branch now carries a larger range of designs in various sizes.
Prices are quite high but it does reflect the excellent quality of the outfits.
Not just a store for goths, also house a lot of other vintage clothing and is a must visit for those into burlesque or the style of Dita von Teese.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Usuario Qype (Anna_N…)Londres, Reino Unido6365 ene 2008
At Firy Goth Mother they sell a wide range of the most bewitching corsets imaginable!
Whatever the nature of you interest in corsets, this shop is worth visiting.
Located on Camden Lock, Fairy Goth Mother is not difficult to find, and, regardless of the shop being rather small, once you are there you autumatically want to spend many long hours looking at the many interesting corsets of all colours, shapes and sizes.
Fairy Goth Mother is probably the best place to buy a corset, corsets being what they specialice in, and they have any kind of corset that you could possibly desire.
Yes, indeed, I believe that this is the very best corset shop in London. Alas, it is not the cheapest.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Anita S.Londres, Reino Unido3641123 may 2008Primera reseña
Whilst the original FGM is in Camden and run very ably by Pippa who is a wizz at corsetry the new FGM shop is in Spitalfields Market and run by the owner. This shop is about 10 times the size of Camden. A far better variety and the opportunity to browse in a more comfortably area. Corsetry is expensive and like everything else you certainly get what you pay for.
