Solid food, nice decor, friendly staff and very reasonable prices.
Spice level can be a hit or miss, but easy to adjust with the spice tray. We got prawn noodles and green curry chicken. Noodles (pad see ew) hit the spot with the smoky flavor. Curry was a little bland.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Matt G.Morrisville, Estados Unidos891440162727 jul 2022
One of few reasonably priced places in this part of town. You can get a meat main course all in, inclusive of service charge for £10. Menu is a little bit different from other Thai places. Not the typical pick chicken/beef/veg/tofu design. Yaki udon with chicken was good, but could have been served warmer. Basic dish, but gets the job done. Also had a red type of curry with prawn and pineapple. Nice coconut paste taste. Service prompt and efficient. Unassuming and small from the outside, but they have a second floor also. Located in one of the tiny alleyways, easy to miss.

Great food. A bit cramped space wise and bustling. Great authentic Thai & Malay food.

After a long day wandering the markets and catching up with friends, we were hungry. Thai sounded perfect and there was a restaurant right next door! Perfect indeed.
Mudmee serves flavourful Thai comfort food. The curries are rich, the meat tender, and the morning glory crisp and crunchy.
We shared the Mudmee B banquet between the three of us. It was a good choice. 20 pounds 50 per person for a good assortment of food.
Our mixed starters platter had Poh Pia Jay (veggie spring rolls), Pang Goong (minced prawn and chicken on toast with sesame seeds), Gai Satay (chicken satay), & Kanom Jeeb (steamed dumplings). Served with prawn crackers and the obligatory dipping sauces, they were fresh and tasty. The toast, spring rolls, and prawn crackers were all crisp and the dumplings and satay were juicy. Nice way to start the meal.
This was followed by Goong Priew Wan (king prawn curry with pineapple, cucumber, & pepper in a sweet & sour sauce), Gaeng Ped (roast duck with peppers, pineapple, tomato, & basil leaves), Gai Graprow (chicken with fresh basil, chilli, garlic, & green beans), & Pak Boong (flash fried morning glory with garlic, soy bean sauce, chilli, and soy). It comes with regular steamed rice but we convinced our table-mates to get coconut rice and swapped with them. I really recommend coconut rice as it provides a nice counterbalance to the various dishes.
My personal favourite was the duck. Rich and creamy curry sauce with tender duck -- very nice. I wasn't initially sure I'd appreciate the pineapple but it actually worked very well without making the curry overly sweet. The chicken was a close second although a touch more chilli would have been awesome. But I was eating with someone that's not keen on too much spice unfortunately. The prawns were good -- not overcooked or rubbery and a nice tang to the sweet and sour. I hadn't had morning glory before and wasn't impressed. It was clearly done properly -- just not my favourite vegetable.
I would happily eat there again if I lived local and wanted a reasonably priced meal. Especially as it's not a chain and we need more local independent places!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - David C.Kula, Estados Unidos101415 may 2018
Really tasty Thai!
Steamed dumplings with crispy fried garlic on top for starters, green curry and delicious red curry on top of salmon, and perfect sticky rice.
This was just what we needed and wanted.
In an area loaded with crowded drinkeries and higher priced fare, this was a real winner.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 3 dic 2014
Oh man, another Thai place in London that got my hopes up.
I know it's partially my fault for walking right into the pad thai trap (PTT as it's known), but honestly, you can't hang a shingle as a Thai eats-slinger if you're going to mess up your noodles.
Other places in London overcook the carbs, Mudmee opts to undercook them. Not sure if al dente should be allowed in a pad thai rendition since this just means none of the sauce and squishy egg bits adhere.
The veggie appetiser platter is pretty good value though, with a small zoo of fried veggies of all types to drown in the sticky orange sauce.
We split fish cakes, and even though they're among my favourite things to stick in my mouth, I honestly can't recall even what shape they were. That's a fail in my book.
Cozy place though, and plenty of people were on lukewarm dates. I wonder how many couples have had babies and bonded over the mediocrity of the Thai food here over the years.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Janice L.Los Ángeles, Estados Unidos12061680729 nov 2014
Decent Thai/ Malay restaurant with a huge menu of all sorts of.. food.
Laksa was decent but the soup with a tad too thick. papaya salad and morning glory was good- bit oily but it's alright. overall decent and reasonably priced.

There are not many central places where you have to call up and make a reservation, because there is no electronic system. And it is rare that you see orders being taken on the the old school waiters pad. It is a re-assuring thing at Mudmee, because it means that the concept has not been tainted by the cool and the now. Mudmee is a cute little Thai restaurant just off a lane by Bishopsgate. On Artillery Passage, you discover cute pubs, hairdressers and other surprises which are quaintly hidden away from the busy access area to Liverpool Street station and this is home to Mudmee.
We were greeted by a confident tiny woman who was obviously in charge. She knew the flow of the room, timings on tables and availability. We settled on a corner table and were given the menus to study. We ordered a bottle of wine to share and due to our hunger, knew that we were in for a two courser. All the thai favourites are here and with the kitchen within our eyeline, we could see the Chefs busying themselves freshly creating each dish.
To start, it was steamed dumplings of minced chicken, crab sticks, prawn, bamboo shoots, mushroom, water chestnut wrapped with a delicate wonton skin with taramind dipping sauce. We also ordered king prawns marinated in garlic and coriander root wrapped with rice pastry served with sweet chilli sauce. Whilst this particular prawn dish may sound like it has a soft shell (well I thought anyway), the wrapping is crunchy, so be aware. The dumplings in particular were gorgeous. I always struggle to find the right descriptive words without sounding pouncy or re-using the same all of the time, but to be honest, I prefer to use my own interpretation of how I felt and if it seems samey, then too bad.
For Main course it was the obligatory pad Thai. Having been to Bangkok and Ko Samui, I know this as being a popular street food and casual dish at eateries. It is made up of stir fried rice stick noodles with king prawns, egg, beansprouts, dried shrimps, sping onions and ground peanuts. It has a sweetness to it which I like. Sometimes you can have it with a bit of a kick with chilli, but here it was quite mild. Eleanor, who introduced me to Mudmee, had the green Thai curry with chicken, another staple dish of Thai cuisine. Smothered over sticky rice, she was a happy camper.
Mudmee is a welcome South Eastern Asian surprise in an area which just down the road, is heavily populated with Vietnamese restaurants. Furthermore, it is not a chain, it is independent, ran by a Thai team with non nonsense decor or service, just good food at an affordable price.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jack R.Londres, Reino Unido0342015 mar 2019
It's an ok sit-in Thai. It might be even good if we chose different meals. I aim to try it again and update this review.
We came there on an impulse. Down a nice alleyway hidden between many shops and restaurants. Small restaurant was half full, we didn't need reservation but we came there before 7pm. I believe reservations are advised as as we were leaving there was a queue. Service was prompt and prices were reasonable.
We chose a deep fried squid (I think) starter and for mains lamb from chef's specialities and prawn from specialities too. We liked the sauce starter came with more than the meat itself. Then the mains. Prawns were decent though hard to eat and small. Lamb was brought on hot grill plate. Again sauce was pretty good. On the other hand overall it was just ok. Other yelpers were quite complementary so I think I should give it another chance...Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Pen L.Londres, Reino Unido22102202619 jul 2015
Amongst the various chain restaurants in the City is Mudmee, a small independent cafe/restaurant serving Thai & Malaysian dishes near Spitalsfield situated in a narrow passageway that forms part of the 'Jack the Ripper tour.' The service is efficient, food pretty decent with a good value express lunch menu making this a reliable lunchtime venue for city workers.
