You do need to book...the Asian inspired food was excellent and Japanese staff delightful.

What a surprise....the place gets it right with top notch dishes, all cooked well served by delightfully charming staff, many hailing from Japan.

Chilled out design works very well and it's intimate which added to the charm

We were VERY impressed and the whole bill was we felt very reasonable for the quality of food served. Only wished we lived nearer!

Leave it to the professionals when you want it done right, these guys really know what they are doing! I was lucky enough for good weather and enjoyed my meal alfresco which even made it better. I've had a number of dishes here and have yet to find something I don't like. Don't get me wrong its a nicer place, but for harrogate it is not pricey, believe me! Winning on taste and reasonable expense (for Harrogate).

Amazing selection of Asian cuisine from Chinese to Thai. All of it tasted delicious my personal favourite being the Singapore beef as well as the duck pancakes! Also a good selection of deserts too for when you are ready to give something sweet a try. Huge chocolate cake, blueberry moose pot, fruit salad and a vanilla egg tartlets, made up the desert options and were all part of the buffett. So you can quite easily stuff yourself silly.

Great service from waiting staff, very busy too which is always a good sign. Beer selection consisted of bottled beers such as Singha and Tiger. The overall price was quite modest too. Would definately visit again if I was in the Harrogate area. Asian cuisine at its finest!

Thai Orchid is the real deal. Take it from someone who lives in the land of authentic Asian cuisine (LA).
The ambiance is chill, the service excellent, but unobtrusive, and the food is superb.
We ordered appetizers of duck rolls and Boom! Wonderful, not greasy & piping hot yum!
The crispy greens (bok Choy) were sublime. My salmon tom Kha gai special was perfect. The Pad Thai delicious and even the coconut ice cream dessert a fitting end to a great night out.
Take my advice, say YES!!!

After emerging from the Harrogate baths we used the Qype android app and stumbled upon Orchid, something I doubt we would have done by accident as from the outside it blends in with the local guesthouses.


I'm not sure what the correct terminology would be (Oriental/Pan-Asian?) but the menu consists of a selection of dishes from Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, The Phllippines and various regions of China.


It's a relatively modest selection, but clearly well thought through and not just a 'throw in every dish and see what sticks' concept, which is what often undoes such places as this.


We only had mains, but the red duck curry was rich, intensely savoury and packed full of lean duck meat. A special of crispy duck (yes, beware mallards!) was similarly excellent, with crisp skin and a deep aromatic sauce.


On arrival we were peering in to see if it was the restaurant we were looking for and an elderly gent smoking outside confirmed it was the Orchid. As we asked if it was a good meal he exclaimed 'aye, it's reet lovely', something I'm now happy to attest to.

Great restaurant, quick service and food was awesome. They handled a group of 8 no problem! I would definitely recommend this place!

This is a really fantastic restaurant that serves beautiful authentic oriental food in gorgeous surroundings with a lovely atmosphere. The food is fresh tasting and incorporates dishes from Thailand, Malaysia and China.
The food is slightly above what you may expect to pay, but for the quality of the food alone, not to mention the surroundings, it is well worth it.
The staff are courteous and attentive, and there is now an open kitchen so you can watch the cooking process in the restaurant if you so wish.
The place does get very busy however, and so booking is advisable. The Sunday buffet is exceptional value, and is perhaps the best time to bring children. The Orchid is also part of a small hotel, which seems lovely, and I'm sure would be a pleasant place to stay when visiting Harrogate.
All in all, a great experience that makes for a memorable meal in beautiful surroundings.

Really great restaurant. Massive portions. We separate starters n shared a main with a side of noodles. Was all to a very high standard. Tad pricey though. Was £50ish

Imagine you have been in the dog house all week with your missus and need to earn some Brownie points fast. The Sunday buffet (£16.90 pp) at the Thai Orchid will soon sort that out. While most of your friends are sat eating microwaved vegetables and a lousy roast at a nearby pub, you will be spoiled with all kinds of soups, starters, mains and desserts at this fine restaurant. It's all you can eat, so start slowly - all the food is to die for - just pace yourself and you can make the most of the 2 hour sittings. I saw my girlfriend's eyes sparkle on a number of occasions and knew that I would be able to live off this one for at least a couple of weeks. Recommended. Get yourself there.

Very good oriental food here and not that expensive either. With a fusion or the orient there is lots of variety. My mixed seafood dish was almost perfect but with slightly over-cooked squid I couldn't quite give full marks. Pleasant staff and a pleasant setting this is great for spot of lunch at the weekend.
