Reseña de 4 estrellas de M:
Oh, Lineage. You were doing so well. My dinner was bordering on five star territory. But then dessert came, and I had no choice but to knock off a star.
But let's start from the beginning. My friend and I had a reservation for 5:30 (yes, I know what you're thinking - who eats that early?). We arrived and were seated at the bar so we could take advantage of their $1 oyster deal. We ordered ten (for ten dollars!), but in hindsight we should've ordered a lot more. I dribbled a little lemon and cocktail sauce on mine and they were gone in no time. Delicious!
After looking at the menu, my friend and I decided to split a bunch of appetizers and one entree, which turned out to be a really good decision. For appetizers, we chose the wood oven pizza, the cod fritters, and the spicy lobster tacos. The wood oven pizza was topped with pear, cranberry, ham, and a generous amount of goat cheese. Yum! The cod fritters were four golf-ball sized pieces of frittery (yes I know that's not a word) goodness. Both of those were fantastic but the stand-out for me was definitely the lobster tacos, with their scrumptious bits of lobster, spicy and fabulously creamy avocado mousse, and mango salsa. I don't know quite how to describe how much I loved those little tacos, so I will just say the following: they were heavenly.
So our meal was off to a fantastic start and I was one happy camper. So happy that I wasn't at all irritated by the fact that they forgot to serve us our rolls until we inquired about it.
Our entree arrived, and Lineage continued to impress. We split the lobster gnocchi, which was perfectly complemented by roasted poblano peppers, caramelized onion, and spinach. After all of that delicious food, my friend and I debated over whether to get dessert or just go to Berry Freeze instead. We took a look at the dessert menu and decided to go for it. We were ready to order the toasted cashew tart, but at the recommendation of our server, we changed our minds at the last second and ordered the dark chocolate cake with port ice cream.
Unfortunately for us, this was a big mistake, and this was where our meal took a nosedive. The cake was warm and gooey, but burnt. The port ice cream was OK but the portion size was tiny. My friend seemed to like it, but the flavor just wasn't for me.
And so our dinner at Lineage ended on a low note. If we had skipped dessert and gone to Berry Freeze instead (which we did anyway even after having dessert), I would've walked out the door with my brain working overtime on a perfect five-star review. Next time, Lineage. Next time.
